Top dog
VAV Gallery co-directors Evita Karasek (left) and Michelle Lacombe enjoy a dog image, part of the current Pinwheels show by Treva Petch and Marc-Alexandre Dumoulin.
The gallery, on the main floor of the VA Building at 1395 René-Lévesque Blvd., is student-run. With the move this summer of such key programs as photography, fibres and print media to the new EV building, the directors are determined to keep students coming back to the VA, still home to ceramics, painting and drawing.
The VAV Gallery now benefits from a student fee levy that provides about $25,000 a year. Artists are paid $200 to cover expenses and shows last two weeks.
