Shrine Bowl raises $40,000

Stingers wide receiver Marc Champagnie makes life difficult for one of the University of Montreal Carabins during the 19th annual Shrine Bowl played at Concordia Stadium on Oct. 15. The Stingers let the Carabins squeak through by a narrow margin, to a 24-21 win. Everyone played their hearts out for a good cause: More than $40,000 was raised for the Montreal Shiners Hospital for Children through donations, tickets sales and sponsorshop at the game. Since the inception of the Shrine Bowl, more than $550,000 has been raised for the hospital. The Stingers more than recouped their loss in a matchup against the Mount Allison Mounties on Oct. 22, however. They solidly trounced that team 52-0 and leave the regular season with a 5-2 win-loss record.
