Doreen Haddad, mother of Kelly-Anne Drummond, presented the trophy at the inaugural Drummond Cup game on Oct. 12 at Concordia Stadium. Drummond played on the Stingers women’s rugby team from 1999 through 2001, and graduated with a BA in 2002. Kelly-Anne died in 2004 and the Cup honours her memory and her contribution to Concordia. Although the Stingers lost to the McGill Martlets 41-3, the game was played for a good cause. Donations of cash, clothing and toys were collected for the West Island Women’s Shelter. The Stingers finished the 2005 season in fourth place with a 3-3 win-loss record. Concordia was eliminated in the conference semifinals on Oct. 23.
