Breaking new ground

A consultant at the Canadian Green Building Council is already involved in the construction of the JMSB building. The consultant will monitor plans and progress on the building, and arrange for a final audit to oversee the granting of the building’s basic Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation.

Although Concordia has maintained leadership in energy efficiency among Quebec institutions for a decade, this marks the first official attempt to earn LEED accreditation for a construction project. There are currently only three Canadian university projects with LEED accreditation. For more information, go to www.cagbc.org
