From banana-flavoured to tuxedo style, condoms of all shapes and sizes were available at the Health Services booth during the 3rd Annual Try-a-new-condom Giveaway. Health Promotion Specialist Gaby Szabo (right) and Health Educator Owen Moran (seated) invited students to help themselves to three different varieties on the mezzanine of the Hall Building last Tuesday.
“Access is one of the main barriers to condom use. This is one way to break down that barrier,” Szabo said.
Health Services reports that 75% of Canadians will contract a sexually transmitted infection (STI) at some point in their life, but consistent and proper condom use can greatly reduce the chance.
The boutique at Health Services sells 20 different varieties of condoms at cost (most brands are four for $1), which works out to one third of the retail price. Lubricant, dental dams, latex gloves, and other items are also available at discount prices. For more information, check out their website.
