Pictured above at left are Ali Olshefsky (rugby) and Howard Magonet. Olshefsky was awarded the Denise Beaudet Award for the third time. With a 4.12 GPA in her graduate diploma in Community and Economic Development, Olshefsky’s academic success is matched by her leadership and dedication to community service. She has been a volunteer coordinator at St. James United Church and encouraged many teammates to help out with their program for homeless men. She has organized fundraising events for this, and other worthy causes.
Marc-André Element (pictured at right with Dean of Students Elizabeth Morey) earned the Ron Lapointe Award for demonstrating similar values this year. The Stingers’ hockey captain and right-winger has excelled in his sport and the classroom while holding down two jobs to cover his expenses. In addition to organizing fundraisers for various health related causes, he has supported Centraide, L’abri en ville and the Raise-A-Reader campaign.
