Mechanical Engineering Awards 

Team members from the Capstone project entitled Design and Construction of an Atomic Force Microscope pose with their supervisor Rolf Wuthrich (left) as they receive the prestigious Richard Cheng Design Award for Mechanical Engineering. The team composed of Sara Fawal, Jennifer Goehring, Niloofar Moradi-Khaniabadi, Paulo Da Silva, Patrick Sardilli and Martin Sosa also received the same prestigious award for their project entitled Design of an Experimental Setup for the Evaluation of Blunt Traumatic Aortic Rupture.

On Tuesday, April 13, the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) held its Annual Design & Awards Day Ceremony. Professors, students, and undergraduates gathered for the special event, which honours overall academic achievement, as well as the best Capstone projects by students in the department.

Teaching excellence within MIE was also recognized, with awards presented to Professors Nadia Bhuiyan and Nabil Esmail (the former dean of ENCS). The ceremony wrapped up with surprise recognition from all MIE members for Martin Pugh, who was praised for his four years of outstanding leadership as Department Chair.
